Breathing in Nature Yoga Retreat at Lake Skadar | 7 days

“The most memorable thing about our yoga holiday with Undiscovered Montenegro was the morning practice. 90 minutes of yoga on the shady deck, looking out towards the mountains and hearing birdsong. Absolutely lovely.” Cherith Simpson, May 2025

Montenegro yoga activity holiday with an expert instructor in asana and vinyasa. yoga activity holiday montenegro

Departure dates: 23rd May and 20th June 2027

Enjoy a week’s yoga, relaxation and activities in the untamed natural beauty and pristine environment of Montenegro’s Lake Skadar National Park. Based at beautiful Villa Miela, a renovated stone villa close to the lake, you can recharge and relax as you participate in daily hatha or vinyasa yoga flow sessions.

Workshops take place on the villa’s hillside terrace and at other spots around the lake, such as hidden freshwater beaches and panoramic viewpoints. In addition to yoga, guests can choose to go out on other guided excursions such as hiking, wild swimming and kayaking; or simply relax at the villa. A British retreat chef has been booked for the week to provide a hearty brunch and early evening meals served with the best vegetarian, local ingredients.

The purity of Lake Skadar makes it the ideal base for a yoga activity holiday retreat, offering clean air, fresh water and rich wildlife, set in some of the most spectacular scenery Montenegro has to offer. This is a small group holiday for up to 10 guests.

Book to Give Back – every booking sparks a donation to our chosen local environmental and community causes!

Nicola (@nicolapollettyoga) is a qualified yoga teacher RYT500, accredited by Yoga alliance. Based on the Norfolk coast she teaches both weekly classes with the local community she adores, also offering bespoke workshops and retreats further afield.

Nicola’s teaching style is one of inclusivity and empowerment. Having explored different styles and methods beyond her initial training, her preferred teaching method invites you to connect and move from your deepest centre.

During asana practice each posture is built from the ground up, from the inside out, igniting inner awareness and stability before moving onto healthy expression, honouring the journey.

Teaching slow flow vinyasa and yin yoga brings her joy, whilst she is perhaps best known for her natural ability to guide her students into deep relaxation.

Nicola’s yogic philosophy takes care to weave intensional and relatable meaning into her own life and each practice she teaches. What started on the mat has led to a personal deeper understanding, and to experiencing more peace and equanimity within.

Immersed within the retreat experience, the hum of everyday demands and distractions often begin to fade into whispers, a quietness for something else waiting to be heard. A change of pace and environment can induce this beautifully.

Whilst we will be held by the breathtakingly beautiful and wild landscape of Montenegro, it’s the inner landscape we will be exploring, experiencing and reflecting on the relationship between the two.

Over 7 days we will be exploring

  • Pranayama (learning to breathe)
  • Asana (empowered movement)
  • Pratyahara (sense withdrawal)
  • Protecting personal peace, and improving relationships
  • Practical yogic philosophy.
  • Recalibration, connecting with reality and the flow of nature
  • Meditation – Dhyana

Each day will typically begin with a 90 minute practice.

Movement as means of pacification for the body, before breath work and meditation practices.

Evening sessions are shorter and more restful and include

  • Yin yoga – low intensity, longer held postures
  • Yoga nidra – yogic sleep
  • Savasana – complete relaxation

Practices will primarily take place at Villa Miela, whilst we will also take advantage of the beautiful and dramatic landscapes within Lake Skadar National Park itself, blending adventure with meaning, movement with stillness, fun with fulfilment.

This retreat is suitable for all abilities, including beginners.
