Discover Serbia’s best kept secrets

Serbia is one of Europe’s most underrated countries, boasting a lively capital and reams of unblemished landscapes beckoning to be explored. The crown jewel has to be Tara National Park, considered one of the continent’s best preserved and highest quality forests. Hike among beech, pine and fir trees and gaze down on dramatic gorges carved out by the Drina River. At Banjska Stena viewpoint, you’ll literally straddle two countries with Bosnia and Herzegovina to the right and Serbia to the left.

Here at Undiscovered Balkans, we’re all about taking you down the roads less travelled (it’s kind of in the name), so while we will tick off some of Serbia’s top sites – including Belgrade, we’ll be keen to whisk you away on an adventure in its outback. Think lunch at a farmer’s house with fish caught a few steps away, sleeping in traditional wooden mountain huts in Tara National Park, and kayaking Serbia’s pristine rivers and lakes.

Thanks to the years we’ve spent on the ground in the Balkans working with our friends and local partners, we’re confident you will have a truly unforgettable holiday in Serbia with us.

As for food? Pack forgiving clothing is all we’ll say. Much like their Balkan neighbours, Serbians are feeders!

Family holidays

Serbia is very family-friendly and all of our itineraries are suitable for active kids. We know that because all of our child-friendly trips have the stamp of approval from our founders’ own children. We believe there’s no greater education than travel, no matter the age or ability. Your family can enjoy experiencing new activities and an enriching cultural exchange with our friendly locals.

Our holidays all come with a recommended minimum age but if you have an exceptional child below that age get in touch, we’re more than happy to accommodate.

Get there

Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade is well served from the UK by Wizzair, Air Serbia, British Airways and several other airlines.

No-fly options

Why not make the journey part of the holiday and hit the rails? The route from Bar in Montenegro to Belgrade is famously scenic. Rome2Rio and The Man In Seat 61 are great resources for planning your cross-continental journey.

Alternatively, you could bus it. FlixBus is one of Europe’s largest coach operators and offers routes from the UK to Serbia.

Serbia weather

Serbia enjoys a moderate continental climate with highs of 27℃ in July and August and lows of 4℃ in the coldest month of January.

Showers are possible in the summer months, so it’s worth bringing a light rain jacket, just in case. We’ll always provide a packing list and trip notes when you book to ensure you come prepared, so fear not.
