Our family (parents plus two kids, 18 years and 15 years) had a great cross border hiking experience with our lovely guides Edo (Montenegro) and Aurora (Albania).Edo is enthusiastic, encouraging, great at capturing the fun with photos and videos andsafety conscious. Aurora is super friendly, knowledgeable about Albania’s history and wildlife, cool and best friends with all the mountain strays! They both above and beyond to show us the best times and places.The hiking routes were also fabulous. We all had different favourite days. For me it was crossing into Albania. The scenery is amazing - meadows and rock faces - and we felt adventurous and looked after at the same time. Guesthouses were excellent in Albania and the cabins at the campsites were comfortable too. Food was delicious and plentiful- even for ravenous teenagers! We are sworn to return to complete the rest of the Peaks of the Balkans route and to explore the undiscovered Balkans more. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful week at Villa Miela building memories! Ale and Javi and the rest of the team were brilliant hosts and guides. The holiday had just the right amount of activity including a boat ride, kayaking, hiking, cave exploring and wild swimming/jumping/diving in river pools and lake Skadar. The villa itself is very comfortable, has stunning views and is a lovely place to spend, well earned rest days, chilling on the terrace and jumping into the pool. We saw a wide array of wildlife both at the villa and on the excursions including eagles, herons, tortoise (not every day a tortoise causes a traffic jam), snakes, lizards, fish, crayfish and a mole which Javi rescued from the road. We were a large group of 7, adults and older children, and shared the villa with a couple of smaller family groups with younger children. Despite the age differences we were all catered for extremely well through the activities by the expert hosts. The local town is nice with a good selection of shops and restaurants. We opted to self cater for a number of the nights using the villas bbq and well equipped kitchen. Have to give an another shout out to Ale and Javi who are to put it simply “amazing people” who made the trip unforgettable. It is your passion that makes the trip to this beautiful corner of our planet all the better! Thanks so much!

Just completed an activity week, with a large family group of older kids and adults of mixed degrees of experience. Everyone had a great time, the week was really well put together, the activities were excellent and the villa was beautiful. It was a good mix of adventure and R&R and the hosts were so fun and warm and really inspired us. Highly recommend this trip .

I have discovered and experienced the Peaks of Balkan! I have hiked in mountains all over the world but this hike is truly a gem! The feeling is that you are close to the mountain, a lot of uphill and downhill with absolutely amazing views. My memories are of friendly and caring people, large portions of simple and tasty food (and cold beer). We had one guide in Montenegro and another in Albania. I really like both guides, Edo and Aurora. Both are very patient and knowledgeable and are very keen to make sure we have the best experience. I recommend getting in good shape, a nice sun hat and comfortable hiking poles and booking yourself in for this hike and then finishing with a few days at a beach hotel for some much needed relaxation.

We did the Northern Albanian tour and Aurora was our guide. We had a fabulous time, what an amazing country, it’s absolutely stunning - mountain view’s, crystal clear lakes and waterfalls. The Albanian’s were friendly and really made us feel very welcome. The food was perfect, just simple proper wholesome food, no nasty processed rubbish, lovely grilled meat, fish, vegetables and lots of it, generous portions for very cheap prices. Local beer and wine really enjoyable too. Tour felt we were taken to places that we probably wouldn’t have known to go ie the paddle boarding and bird watching in a restricted nature reserve only our guide is permitted to go, the mountain hikes and stopping halfway up for a cold beer, the swims in the lake Shkodër and river Kiri (would absolutely not recommend a dip in the Blue Eye!) and the amazing meal we had when we went to Mrizi i Zanave. Kruje’s stay was the perfect ending to an active holiday, the hotel Deal, the views, the breakfast, it was so special! Was a holiday I will remember and would love to visit Albania again and see more!

Following a week in Montenegro and prior to a few days in Corfu we used UB to arrange a 5 day road trip through Albania. Starting in Shkodër, taking in Lin and lake Ohrid, Permet, Gjirokaster and Qeparo, and many places in between we had a great 5 days including kayaking, walking, rafting, wild swimming and a lot of eating. The small guest houses UB use are a delight and our guide Alfie was first class. Thanks to Alfie and Ben for organising a great trip that included many highlights of our holiday.

Interestingly in our party of four we all had a different highlight: eating a home-cooked meal at a farm stay during a dramatic thunderstorm (mine), SUP trip and river swims (husband), wild swimming in pristine rivers (13 year old) and Valbona to Theth hike (18 year old).
