Canyoning (sometimes called canyoneering) is an adventure sport that involves descending into a canyon or gorge using a mix of techniques, which can include: Abseiling (rappelling) down waterfalls Sliding down natural rock chutes Jumping into deep pools Swimming through narrow gorges Scrambling over rocks In technical canyoning, participants use specialist equipment such as ropes, harnesses, helmets and wetsuits.
