Are you travelling in Albania with us and keen to know who will be leading the way? Meet Alfi, one of our two awesome adventure guides there. Like Aurora, Alfi hails from northern Albania but he also leads our South Albania holidays.
Alfi loves nothing more than teaching guests about his country and being in the water—a man after our own hearts.
Read on to get to know Alfi.
Where did you grow up?
‘“Obviously” I am from the north!’ (Alfi makes this fact very clear and according to him, the north is the best). ‘I was born, and I still live, in Selce/Kelmën. It is a beautiful region with diverse villages, rivers, canyons and mountains. I do have beautiful mem
ories from Selce and Lepush (two important villages) of swimming, walking, running, etc, growing up.’
What inspired you to become a tour guide?
‘I have been guiding since 2014. I liked the idea of freedom (out of office) and independence (no bureaucracies). Soon, I began discovering my country’s hidden secrets and history, and became more passionate about it. Now I love to share my knowledge with visitors.

What do you like doing in your spare time?
‘I like to be as busy as possible with work. Traveling is in my blood even more when I am not working. When I get free time I’d choose just to relax back home, reading a book or doing some painting (which will remain hidden for obvious reasons;).’
What’s your favourite place to visit in Albania and why?
I love all Albania! We are blessed with a country that has it all. My favorite place is back in the north, where I’m from, where I find peace in my mind and soul.
What food should people try when they first visit Albania?
They should try to interact with locals. That’s where the secret key of hospitality of Albania is hidden. Depending on the region, locals will show you the main course. One thing is for sure; Albanian food is simple, fresh and made with love.
What should people know about Albania that they may not know before coming?
Albanians inherit an old heritage with key moments from history of modern humans and that we speak one of the world’s oldest languages, the Illyrian languag, which is 2000-2500 years-old.
