What Our Guests Say About Us

We are a family of 4 from England, Mum, Dad, 21 and 18 year old. We are lucky to have shared holidays together in the past but this is hands down the best week we have ever had. From the moment we were collected by our tour guide, Alfie, from the airport we were instantly put at ease, he is the perfect companion for an adventure. Undiscovered Balkans showcases what this country has to offer; spectacular mountains, canyons, lakes; adventure and lovely food. The planning that was put into this trip is exemplary; the bases for our 3 stays were all very good; I loved the fact we could eat in local restaurants if we wanted to; Alfie was more than willing to drive us there and knew the best places to go. Yes, there is driving involved but even with change over days there were stops to see villages and (very good) coffee. I was a bit sceptical about going to Albania but all expectations were exceeded. You could to a beach holiday in Albania; but if you want to see the heart of the country head inland, and if you're after an adventure use Undiscovered Balkans. Alfie's knowledge and passion for Albania, the history and his kind demeanour made the trip. Albania is in our hearts, I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. The only decision we have is whether to go and see the South of Albania or more of the Balkans. Thank you

We had a fabulous family multiactivity holiday in Montenegro with Undiscovered Balkans. We are a family of 4, our kids are 16y & 13y and we wanted an active holiday. We did 5 different activities and loved them all. Miliya was our guide and he was fab. His passion for his country, its history and his desire to see tourism develop and reach its full potential were obvious. Food was excellent and there was plenty of it even for our hungry 16 year old son. We cant recommend this holiday highly enough Thank you

We spent amazing week at Villa Meila hosted by Javi and Ale. The Villa was of a high standard and very spacious, with room for all families/guests to either spend time together or apart. The itinerary was perfect for all ages and abilities - my husband and teenage sons were able to have fun climbing and jumping into the water pools, while I relaxed knowing that Javi and Ale were providing excellent leadership when needed, showing the safe places to jump into the water. The food was simple, tasty and filling and we had two amazing meals at Tanya’s House up in the hills! Such a great spread of traditional dishes and for such a reasonable price!Montenegro itself surpassed expectations, with its greenery, nature and rugged beauty! The locals were also super friendly too. We only scratched the surface at the Lake Skadar Retreat and we will be back to Montenegro and the other Balklans areas for sure as part of another Undiscovered Tour!I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

What a varied trip we had on our Gastronomy and Culture tour of Albania! From the moment we met Alfie, our guide, we knew we were in for a treat (not least as we were the only guests so had him all to ourselves!). We hiked, swam in the Blue Eye, marvelled at the dramatic mountain scenery, ate our way across the best of Albanian cooking and explored fortresses, churches, towns and cities. Particular highlights were the tour and meal at Mrizi el Zanev, the cooking class with Mama Nina in Berat and the trip through the mountains to Alfie's region in the north. A busy itinerary but nothing was rushed. Thoroughly recommend for anyone interested in an active holiday in a fascinating country still finding its way forward after decades of Communist rule. Alfie is an outstanding guide with extensive local knowledge and the love he has for his country shines through. thank you!

I did the bird watching trip with guide Mihailo. Fantastic time with such a knowledgeable and personable guide, really enjoyed his company. Villa Miela staff Javi and Ale are two lovely people, very welcoming and helpful. So much l could say on this trip so will condense it to: loved every minute of it, fantastic place and people including the other guests on this trip. Outstanding birds seen: red footed falcon, red legged partridge, Dalmatian pelican, alpine chough, crested tit - to name a few. Glad l booked - highly recommended - l had fun!!! Thanks to trip organiser Ben for all his help and making this experience possible.

Undiscovered Montenegro has changed holidays forever!6 of us made up our own group (2 mums, 4 kids - x2 11 year olds and x2 7 year olds) We booked the Family Mountains Multi Activity adventure week. We flew from Manchester (easy three hour flight) and were met at Tivat airport for the 90 minute private transfer to Virpazar. The week is made up of 3 locations and different accommodation.Day 1-3, 2 nights VirpazarActivities - boat trip (in a thunder storm) and kayaking on Lake Skadar, canyoning in Stari BarAccommodation - 2 amazing nights in a small guest house, we were split over 2 rooms, both had balconies, kitchenettes and AC. Host very welcoming and a great cook (total feeder!)Highlights - first taste of priganice, lilly pad hats, the thrill of canyoning, rope swing into Lake Skadar. The kids were inspired by Lauren and her cycling tripTips - it’s useful to know kids height and weight for wetsuits. Day 3 afternoon is a scenic drive 3.5/4 hours to next locationDay 4-5, 2 nights Camp GrabActivities - white water rafting and star gazingAccommodation - 2 nights at Camp Grab, meals are eaten next to the beautiful Tara River. Accommodation is basic - 6 of us in 1 room with no ACHighlights - white water rafting, clear drinkable water and stunning scenery. Drinks and snacks on the Bosnia shores. Chilled afternoon playing on the riverside beach and dosing in a hammock. With no light pollution the star grazing is breathtakingTips - Meal times are later than U.K. so worth getting snacks for little tums before arriving (9am breakfast, 2pm lunch and 9pm dinner)Day 6-8, 3 nights ZabljakActivities - boat trip on Lake Piva, drive through Durmitor National Park and seeing the peaks of Sedlo and Prutas, hikes, wild swimming in glacier lakes and zip wireAccommodation - our final 3 nights were spent in a lovely, new brand self catering 3 bedroom house in the traditional hut style. Complete with washing machine!Highlights - paddle boarding on Lake Piva(gorgeous blue water and quaint town), ice cream stop with the dinky, bitey donkey! Car disco. Black Lake high ropes course and seeing the Tara River dragon from the zip wire!Tips - take water filtration bottle on day 6 hike to Yablan Lake, it’s the only day it’s required but usefulDay 8Return travel to airport is about a 3 hour drive, we extended our trip for 3 days R&R staying at Ethno Village St George in Njegusi.Booking the trip was easy and communication from Ben was superb. Our guide Matija was excellent and brilliant with the kids. He was knowledgeable, has an interesting life story and most of all fun, we miss our car discos. Thank you Undiscovered Montenegro for the magical memories and holiday we will never forget

Fabulous adventure with wide range of activities and realistic proportion of free time vs planned activities. It was superbly organised with particular attention to flexibility with the weather most suited to certain activities. The welcome meal was a fabulous ice-breaker as was the wine tour! The treks were as described and the kayak adventure a real highlight with treasured insight into the vast landscape and some very unusual visits and local hospitality. Thank you for a fascinating trip.
