As a family with children of 10 and 13 we're just back from an action packed week in this country of immense beauty and interest. Our inimitable guide Alfie infused us with his passion and knowledge of Albania's fascinating history and culture in addition to introducing us to the magnificence of The Accursed mountains, Lake Shkoder ( where we relaxed aboard paddleboards amid yellow lilies and an occasional pelican), the bountiful and varied cuisine including the freshest fish and plenty of walking opportunities along the way. Every day had a highlight, even the 300 hairpin bends to access our walk start point! Exploring the Osumi canyon clad in wetsuits, lunching al fresco on the slopes of Mount Tomorr with Arben's raki to toast the idyllic scenery and finally cooling off in the Ionian Sea as we reluctantly faced leaving one of our most rewarding holidays ever...to choose what we loved most would be like choosing between offspring! We encountered such engagingly welcoming people whose enthusiasm and authentic interest in visitors stands in contrast to other more apparently commercial destinations chasing the ultimate dollar. What a wonderful week we had at Villa Miela! Ably hosted by Tobi and Adel and assisted by Simon and carly who, along with our fellow guests, were such good fun. The Lake took our breath away . What a sublime place . All are adventures , kayaking, swimming,hiking, wine tasting etc were well planned and even when plans were derailed (landslides,swollen rivers) back up plans were swiftly put into place . Nothing was too much trouble . I would highly recommend this holiday to anyone who likes beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, lots of activities and great company. 🤩🤩

We spent an amazing two weeks in Bosnia and Serbia with Undiscovered Balkans. We loved all the activities we did (kayaking, hiking, whitewater rafting, wild swimming, via ferrata etc). We loved the food we ate, the places we saw, the people we met. Our guides were all amazing and the trip was very well organised. We would not hesitate to book through Undiscovered Balkans again. Perfect combination of activities from kayaking on the stunning lake, walking and swimming, and wine tasting (hic) and then down time if you wanted it, and very helpful suggestions of things to do in free time if you wanted to go off and explore on your own- even to the extent of booking things for us too thank you 🙏. Beautiful corner of the world and a real gem. The villa was truly stunning and missing the incredible views that we woke up to each morning so much. Fell in love with the yoga deck and hammocks and beakfast boxes were such a good idea and beautifullypresented. We had an incredible week staying at Villa Miela, met some great people and have made some wonderful memories. Thank you Tobi and Adel - you are brilliant! 🙏

We had the most amazing time from start to finish, such a great [kayaking] trip with beautiful landscape and warm welcoming locals.The team on the ground were super friendly helpful, accommodating and good fun.The communication was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.Local beer was great too, especially after a hard day paddling! Loved it!

Thank you Philomena and Alex for a wonderful experience in a great country. We'd highly recommend this holiday for folk who want to try something a bit different and out and about. Belgrade felt metropolitan but with bags of history and the Serbian countryside and mountains really did feel "Undiscovered". Lucky Us!I think Alex knows EVERYTHING and Philomena has a plan A, B, C (and D if needed) to cover all eventualities. Our activities were such fun but despite feeling quite adventurous I always felt safe and secure, even hanging off a tree on the end of a rope in a waterfall. It was a privilege to spend time eating seriously delicious and huge "Zero Air Mile" meals with the farming family. Reluctantly we had to turn down many offers of rakia both there and out and about on our walks.Activities were well planned and organised, even when weather conditions meant things had to be rescheduled.Don't do this if you are happy on a beach for a fortnight or if you are a pedant for the itinerary. This is quite active and being flexible and going with local guide knowledge means you'll get the most from it. We were there late summer/early autumn with mixed weather. Decent raincoats - no problem. Our hike with Philomena felt like a ramble with a friend and sunny kayaking on the Drina and river walking in the gorge were heavenly. Go with the Serbian flow and you will have a holiday to remember. Serbia feels like a country on the cusp of being a serious tourist destination (as yet undiscovered). Get there before other people find it. It's wonderful!
