HOW TO GET TO US BY TRAIN OR CAR

If you want to keep your carbon footprint to a minimum, travelling by train is straightforward and offers one of Europe's most dramatic rail journeys over the mountains from Belgrade to Podgorica. Seat61 is a good place to plan your journey.

If you're driving from Western Europe, Split (HR) and Maramures (ROM) are less than a day's drive away. If you are continuing further south we recommend that you head through Croatia down the Adriatic coast to Dubrovnik, from where you can reach Mostar or Podgorica in two and a half hours and Tirana in another three. We don't recommend driving to Kosovo!

Have a look at Michelin Maps for more precise directions - don't trust your satnav!

If you prefer to hire a rental car we recommend www.carrentals.co.uk if you are flying into Dubrovnik and www.idealcar.me if you are flying into Podgorica.
