As we reflect over the year, we want to give a shoutout to the BEAR SANCTUARY Prishtina in Kosovo for their continued great work to provide special care to rescued brown bears. 🐻💛Many years ago, restaurants in Kosovo kept bears in tiny cages as entertainment for guests — a practice thankfully outlawed in 2010. Freed but unable to return to the wild after so long in captivity, international charity FOUR PAWS stepped in to give these traumatised bears spacious, semi-wooded enclosures near Prishtina where they can roam, bathe in ponds and climb trees 🌳Visiting Kosovo's Bear Sanctuary is an activity we include on our multi-active trip there, but it isn’t just a chance to admire one of Europe’s greatest mammals; it’s an opportunity to support FOUR PAWS financially and learn about these fascinating creatures while keeping a respectful distance. Our time there on a hot August day was a highlight of our own travels this year. ☀️If you’d like to donate to FOUR PAWS , the link is in the comments, along with a link to our activity holiday there (a great option for 2026 😄).#undiscoveredbalkans #animalprotection ... Forget Black Friday… we’re celebrating Green Friday instead. 💚And not only for its green landscapes — which Balkan countries have in abundance — but because life here isn’t driven by mass consumerism. You won’t find long queues of people trying to get the latest something-or-other, no huge shopping malls, no rush. What you will find are mountains, forests, quiet villages and neighbours still swapping homemade rakija, cheese, wine, honey, and homegrown fruits and veg with one another. And honestly… we prefer it that way.But while we're on the subject of great deals, there's just two days left to get the biggest savings for 2026 holidays in our Super Early Bird sale: £150 off per person on all our activity and hiking holidays. 🙌Link in the comments. #undiscoveredbalkans #adventureholidays #greenfriday ...
